Sam480 Posted November 24, 2025 Report Posted November 24, 2025 the average job opening received 242 applications — nearly triple the amount in 2017 To see how bad it's gotten, I asked Greenhouse, one of the leading providers of hiring software, to take a look at their data. Last quarter, the average job opening received 242 applications — nearly triple the amount in 2017, when the unemployment rate was at a comparable level. That means that when someone submits a resume today, they have the abysmally low 0.4% chance of actually getting the job. (That's just for the average job. At the big-name employers, the odds are even worse.) Applying to a job in 2025 really is the statistical equivalent of hurling your resume into a black hole. https://www.businessinsider.com/technology-broke-job-market-ats-recruiters-hiring-application-2025-11 Quote
baabaa Posted November 24, 2025 Report Posted November 24, 2025 Very true anna. Maa company lo I spoke to recruiter. I was referring someone who needs h1b appudu recruiter idi antha cheppadu. IT job opening ki we are getting close to 300 resumes and almost 25% are local not needing sponsorship and in that 50% are willing to come to onsite. Cheppadu asalu h1 ki chance ee undadu unless manager can strongly tell upper management why need this person and have to sponsor h1 for him. It is getting very hard to justify for regular IT jobs. Uppudu manager says he is the best .NET developer and we cannot find anyone local ante, management koda aa manager ni erri pushpam laga chustundi. Quote

VictorLawrence Posted Wednesday at 03:53 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:53 PM I’ve been feeling the job-market squeeze too, so I tried shifting into something steadier, like online medical billing and coding. I took one of those quick certification programs, and the average expense may run about $1200-$2500, which wasn’t too wild compared to the grind of endless applications. It gave me a clearer path and way less stress than firing off hundreds of resumes. Quote
