100% I have seen first hand with my uncles here, they had hard time getting funds repatriated. Emo bro, it’s a big uphill battle with greedy relatives/ fraudsters/ govt officials , as land sell chesi and get money back, especially if land is in and around Hyd.

Unless you have father or father-in-law who is strong, healthy and can go around, you should not trust anyone. I have seen brothers fighting because of wives input after marriage, brother -in-law grabbing land.

NRI money ante andariki chinna chupu, they think we get it easy.

Also, once land crosses certain value like say 10-15 Cr per acre, all the local prominent ppl will be looking at it and it will be very difficult to protect it.

Adi koda case cheputa anna. My uncle came in 80's to TX and invested in Hyd. Both sons are Dr now and married to Indian Americans and grand kids also born in TX. So he sold his properties in Hyd and brought money back. He told me all the numbers and it was not a lot of appreciation because of Dollar/Rs, Tax, black/white conversion.

This was not in the western hyd like madhapur/gachibowli but uppal side which did not grow much. But 20-25 years ki ekkada growth vastundi anedi very diffuclt to tell.

This all goes back to the first principle. US la kurchoni, India tho ties cut chesukunna tarvata kuda India la pands appreciate avali, maaku paisal kavali anye kastam…

Simple reasoning :  If you have lands in India, you also need to maintain healthy and active ties with India.

Ade kastam ani cheputunna anna. Ikkada 40's and GC vastundi, akkada parents/in-laws old avutaru. Brothers and brother-in-laws ki marriage ayyi thru vala wives valaki ekkuva telivi vastundi.

And then once you are in 50's your kids who grew up here cannot read/write telugu/hindi, cannot talk in govt office in india and will be totally dependent on their cousins[aka your brother or brotherinlaw kids].

If you are coming from tier 2 town or village you will probably think relatives will help, I have seen in hyd relatives dont have time to look after relatives property like in villages.

On top of that kaalam koda mari poindi not like old days when relatives would take care of your assets.

100%, some people think they can maintain active ties and healthy relationship in India but main thing they often forget is you are not technically living there (you are still some thousands miles away) to go and see what happening at the ground level. I have seen numerous examples of how sweet talking relatives took advantage of NRI’s for run. Unless you live in close proximity and engage with that property (especially agricultural lands), nothing is safe. If you are not returning back to India, eventually you need to get that fortune back by selling those assets and it’s an uphill to get everything sorted. Many dont understand until reality hits the face.

True. If you’re not an only child, parents may sometimes favor the other sibling and fail to divide wealth fairly. It can be worse when it involves property you earned yourself, as they might still want to give a share to the other child especially if that sibling is less successful/ financially stable.
