Kurnoolbomb Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago If it were that easy, everyone would be doing it. It’s really not that simple. With $500k( around ₹4.5 crore) in fixed deposits, you’d get roughly ₹3 lakh per month in interest. At that point, you wouldn’t even need to work after moving to India. Quote

Kurnoolbomb Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago While US banks can and do take legal action in India to recover credit card debt (a civil process), there is no widespread evidence that they are routinely filing police cases (criminal complaints) for simple credit card default. Police cases are reserved for instances involving proven criminal elements like fraud, cheating, or identity theft, which is distinct from a normal default due to financial inability to pay. Therefore, the statement is likely to be false for a standard, non-fraudulent credit card default.- Google Gemini. Quote
thokkalobokkalo Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Chowrasta aithe been clear through out that he and wife had netted around 2-3 crores in exchange of 10-12 years of US Life. He then built a home in India the res of money in cash. To me it appeared that the wife's brother was well settled in NJ and probably helping them out when in need otherwise they are humble in lifestyle and showing accountability. I think OP is misreading loss of American dream to something else. Had this guy not been laid off at Comcast / Vonage, I do not think they had plans to go back immediately. Hope their kids get everything they deserved. For credit card debt though, i have a 23 year old cousin that got Citicard denied as they called back and asked to send proof of gc / citizenship via fax or email. While few thousands of non payments here and there are slipping by, I am sure its only a matter of time when US bank will hand off the bad debt to India banks for collections. (e.g. US Citi to Citibank India for credit card defaults) Quote
