Same day ?? Not sure. But I got it in 2 days after. 
Book appointment in advance for passport office based on your oath ceremony date. Once you have the naturalization certificate go there directly for $60 extra and $18 expedited shipping you can get in 2 days. Or you can pick it up Next Day.

As an immigrant I wanted to demonstrate that I made a mistake and took all the necessary steps to redress the situation.  I knew it will absolutely work in my favor. And it probably did during the time of my citizenship interview with the officer - because it demonstrated my honesty/integrity and the fact that I did not sit idle on top of the speeding ticket - rather I proactively chose to do something about it. 

Even  if I concede - in an alternate universe -  there was no benefit in doing it - there certainly is no downside in doing it.

 

In any case I firmly believe that worked in my favor when establishing my overall credentials at the time of citizenship.  This allowed me to speak with a lot of confidence at the citizenship interview.

 

In the interview do the officer randomly pick questions from N-400 to ask or they ask you every question?  Did they ask you about your employment history?
