Employer Change and Visa Stamping

Hi bro

I wanted to share everything that happened during my travel on Jan 11. It was honestly unexpected.

I traveled from Hyderabad and there were no issues at all there. The airline stat allowed to board without any problem I landed in Abu Dhabi, I went through tl thing

The officers stopped me and asked me to .They took my passpor nd my I-797 approval notice. started asking detailed questions about my job. They asked whether I work at is remote/hybrid. They also asked if I w currently on vacation or actively working, quested my recent pay stubs. Luckily, I had my pay stubs saved and was able to show them.

They then asked when I changed my employer. I told them I had changed about 6 months ago. I also showed them my new I-797 approval with my current employer. However, my visa stamp in the passport is still under my previous employer, even though it is valid until March 26, 2026.

After reviewing everything, they told me that since I changed employers, I need to get my visa "updated" with the current employer. They also mentioned that my visa is "close to expiry" and said I should not travel without getting new stamping that reflects my current employer. I explained that I was planning to book a visa slot soon but right now there are no appointment slots available. They still insisted that I must get new stamping before traveling again.

They were polite but firm. They did not cancel my visa, did not stamp anything negative in my passport, and did not take my phone or personal belongings. They simply said I could not travel to the U.S. at this time and arranged for me to return on the next available flight. I had to collect my luggage and was sent back.

The whole situation was shocking because I had traveled with all valid documents, including my new I-797 and pay stubs, and had no issues at departure in Hyderabad. Being stopped and sent back from Abu Dhabi was mentally very stressful, and and they didn't really give me much room to explain beyond saying I need updated stamping with my current employer.
