Authorities in North Texas raided two jewelry stores in Irving and Frisco after a year‑long joint investigation by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and federal partners into a large “gold bar scam” targeting seniors.[youtube]

Scammers emailed elderly victims claiming they were under federal investigation and threatened them with arrest unless they liquidated assets or bought large amounts of gold and handed it to couriers.[youtube]
Investigators say couriers then sold that fraudulently obtained gold to the two jewelry stores, where it was allegedly melted down into bracelets and other items and resold or smuggled out of the country, with everyone in the chain taking a cut.[youtube]
Officials report that over 200 Collin County victims over age 65 lost more than 7 million dollars from their retirement savings, and total losses across Texas exceed 55 million dollars.[youtube]
During the raids, millions in gold and cash were seized, multiple people were arrested at the Irving and Frisco locations, and all inventory on display and in the vaults will be seized as part of the ongoing investigation.[youtube]
