It was a revenge 10 years in the making. A man brutally hacked his rival to death in #Karnataka after he allegedly eloped with his mother in 2016. After the murder, the accused, identified as Erayya Mathapati, stood with his foot on the victim's body and waited at the spot until police arrived.

The incident, which happened near Hoolikatti village in Savadatti, a temple town known for the Yellamma mandir, on Monday evening, has left locals stunned. The victim, Basappa Hosmani (51), a resident of Basadoni village, was intercepted on the road by Mathapati and attacked with a sharp weapon, police said. Hosmani sustained around 16 stab wounds and died on the spot.
