anyone here drive a pickup truck?

em make and model use chesthunnaru? I am thinking of buying one but unable to decide on a lot of things

1. Toyota tundra vs RAM 1500 vs GMC Sierra.. Ford F150 kuda considering but not sure how reliable it is.

2. Chala technology unna fully loaded - CPO truck better aa? or should I go with a basic work-truck brand new? I know features requirement depends on a lot of factors, but the most features I would need is 360 degree camera, side camera while making turns to not hit curbs etc. phone nundi start option to pre-condition the truck on hot or cold days.

3. Hybrid ki money pettadam antha worth aa? is it worth the gas savings? WFH job, so mostly timepass ki tiragadam, kids schools, activities etc, just like a regular car usage. antha daniki truck endhuku ani 10gakandi.. ekkado purugu tiruguthundi after seeing a lot of people driving trucks here in TX.

Do you want to buy Pickup truck just for fun or do you have any other use?

If not, go for a lease.. don’t buy small and medium size trucks, they are very similar to SUV’s for driving.. big truck thiskoo like f150 or ram 1500 with crew cab.. many trucks have very small 2nd row..

I use a Ram 1500 (2009) 4.7 4x4. it has about 200,000 km on the Odo. Bought it around 75k on the Odo in Ontario. Very basic truck. I'd ont even have a rear camera, but I don't need it. I drive completely fine.

Now, I also have a MG hector, Ford Figo Aspire and a Mahindra Bolero back home in India and MG is very advanced in terms of electronics (bigger turbo 2.0 L, huge diesel torque) where as Mahindra Bolero was utilitarian (rugged), and I still love Bolero. That just me. Which is why I'm fine with a basic truck.

Depends on your needs. If you want a pickup I suggest ones with more mechanical robustness and less electronics as labour is expensive in North America. I also suggest you buy in used market as Trucks last REALLY LONG. You can find good ones even on FB market place from private sellers.

Ram 1500 Hemi is good engine. But the problem is RAMs are rust buckets. If you live in snow belt, you better take care of it. My rear fenders started rusting, my rockers are gone. I just don't care lol.

Ford's are good but way too much electronics. Even my small Figo 1.5 diesel mill has a lot of electronic integration. If you want power and quick launches F150 2.8 and 3.5 are very good. But remember, electronic integration part.

Chevy 1500 is also real good. The 5.3 motor is the real work horse, which is why police department buy this engine across US and Canada in Tahoes.

Nissan TITAN is a wild card. I gave it a spin and I felt it's honestly the best truck you get for the monies you pay. The market under plays it, but being a Japanese Truck it's mostly built in the US where as most of the Big 3 get built in Mexico with assembly lines in US and Canada.

Never touch MIDGETS from Ford or Hyundai. No No. I'd not recommend Toyota in trucks either.

Tundra is good too.. but not Tacoma, though many ppl buy it..

I sometimes rent pickup trucks when I travel..

one disadvantage is that many ppl either ask you to help with moving some stuff or you have to lend them your truck..

you will become THe guy with a truck for all your friends moving needs

You can simply say no. Tundra has engine problems. A V8 is a very pick up truck engine built for hauling, towing and longevity and mechanistically very stable. Toyota's gone rouge the moment they ditched that. Even then, the engine problems persist in Tundras. Nissan did a far better job in its pickup aside from American big three.

thanks bro.. I live in texas, so snow is never a problem.

between RAM and Ford ( I liked RAM for the sturdiness and Ford for the comfort options). But yeah, what you told makes sense about having more electronics involved.

That's even better. I suggest try looking for Ram 2500 cummins diesel. The engine will last at least 1 million miles. Diesel are better especially when emissions regulations are relaxed and temperatures don't dip too low. Texas is one such place. Try looking for 2010-2018 model of Cummins 2500 crew cabs, you will get sweet deals in this economy.  Below 200,000 miles and 25K, is a sweet spot. Cummins is built to last forever and in Texas you can "delete" easily and not sweat about it. The diesel mileage is always superior.

Ram 1500 Eco diesel is also a very good option, if you want a smaller truck. You can delete it too. The thing with diesels is the internal components are built to last high pressure environment which is why they last really long. Only part is you should wait for the engine to warm up, i.e , idle it for at least 4-5 minutes when it's cold.  I'm not that lucky I love the wretched state of NY.

A friend currently drives a Tundra.. he is very happy with it.. not sure about any issues with the truck..

I was suggesting him to buy a bigger truck if he really wants to enjoy it.. not really suggesting him which brand to buy..

full size pickups are overkill for your needs

look into mid size pickups - Frontier, Ridgeline,Canyon,  Colorado and Ranger. Ranger Raptor if you can afford it and Colorado has some sick trims too
