Students remonstrate against Jhansi receiving the Nandis

The Prestigious Nandi Awards for the year 2007 were presented in a star studded evening on 14th at Lalitha Kala Thoranam. Popular TV anchor and artist Jhansi won the Best Comedy Actress award for her performance in 'Tulasi'.

This is her second Nandi Award after for 'Jayam Manadera' which is also a Venkatesh starrer. In 'Tulasi', her character speaks in Telangana accent, which became added fuel for controversial talks.

Telangana Students Association raised an objection in the Nandi function, for presenting her the Best Comedy Actress for the character she played. The leader of the Telangana Students Association, daughter of KCR, Kavitha opined that by speaking in Telangana accent in comedy sequences, she has insulted the language.

The group raised an agitation, protesting against the award presentation. Subsequently, the police took her into custody and moved the protestors out of the premises
