The minister made a fundamental mistake in making an allegation about PCC chief D.Srinivas. The minister alleged that the PCC chief in his tenure had amassed over Rs, 1000 crores of ill-gotten wealth. He also questioned the PCC chief’s contribution to the party, An enraged D.Srinivas took it to the notice of Delhi and the leadership in Delhi initiated measures to have Mareppa expelled from the party for a minimum period of 6 years. If not for the fact that he is a Dalit leader the suspension could have been permanent. This is the first instance to show that the current administration will if needed act tough on dissent.
