Two-day long Defence Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan concluded in New Delhi today.

While there was no breakthrough in the talks, both India and Pakistan welcomed the dialogue, saying the discussions were "frank & cordial."

"The talks contributed to enhancing understanding of each other's position on Siachen," said a joint statement issued after the talks. The next round will be held in Islamabad.

The talks on the long-pending Siachen issue kicked off in New Delhi yesterday, after a gap of four years.

Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar was leading the Indian delegation during the talks with his Pakistani counterpart Lt General (Retd) Syed Ather Ali.

India and Pakistan decided to resume the talks last year after Prime Ministers of both countries met in Thimpu and decided to take the dialogue process forward.
