Hyderabad, June 3: As the TDP has given notice for a no-confidence motion against the Government, it has become a hot topic for discussion about how many MLAs would support the motion and how many would support the government. To either save the government or to dislodge it, there should be a numerical strength of 148 members.

Strength of different parties

Congress 155,TDP 90,PRP 18,TRS 11,MIM 7,BJP 2,Left 5,Lok Satta 1,YSR Congress 1,Independent 3

Vacant seat 1 (Banswaa constituency became vacant because of the resignation of Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy)

Total seats 294

Who will support whom?

Of the 155 members of Congress, only 138 are for the government.

Of the 18 MLAs of PRP, 17 are for the government.

Three independents will support the government.

As per this calculation, the government’s strength is 165.

Those supporting the opposition and the no-confidence motion:

TDPΒ  90

Jagan (YSRC 1+ Congress dissidents 17+ PRP 1) total 19

BJP 2, Left5

As per this calculation, the number of MLAs supporting the no confidence motion: 127

There is need for 19 more members if the government was to be dislodged. Some are saying that Jagan can easily buy those MLAs as he has thousands of crores of black money.
