Nope......each line card is dependent on the chassis (backplane) version & sup module also.......
for ex:

old Sup 3 support old c6148(48 port) - allowing only 6 ports to be used ( 1 in 8 oversubscription) & doesn't support c6748 ( newer 48 port) : coz sup 3 can forward packet at lesser rate ( guess 6 Gbps ...pls chk it)

similary New Sup 720 supports c67xx ( newer cards ) onwards only..... nuvvu patha card c6148 thesukoni chassis lo Sup 720 tho pedithey pani cheyadu ... line card module not supported ani osthundhi

So, on a typical c6506-E chassis, for a Sup 720 3C, each line card module can independently route 40 Gbps per slot

WS-X6748-SFP is the line card we have in box along with WS-X6704-10G

and along with WS-X6148-RJ-45 .. how is WS-X6148-RJ-45 workign or suported then ?
