Hyderabad, Jan 30: The State Bandh observed by the Telangana Students JAC, several political parties and Dalith organisations, protesting against the desecration of the Dr BR Ambedkar statues, had passed off in a peaceful manner, barring a mild tension at Osmani University premises.

The ruckus took place between Osmania University students and the police when the former tried to organize a rally towards Tank Bund. The police obstructed the students at the NCC gate and jostling took place between the police and students when the latter tried to rush towards Tank Bund.

Across the state, most of the buses were confined to the depots. In the capital city, almost all the buses had plied as the police took precautionary measures by placing police pickets at sensitive places. At Chilkalguda, some unidentified persons burnt a private bus. Responding to this incident, the police intensified the security further and deployed huge police force in Osmania University campus. They closed the roads leading to Osmania University.

Shops were closed across the state and half of the shops were opened in Hyderabad.

The DGP V Dinesh Reddy had met the Governor ESL Narasimhan and detailed the conditions prevailed in the state. According sources, the DGP told to the Governor that the mild violence that took place in the City was with the help of Osmania University students.
