Provide 7-Hour Power Supply To Farmers: Andhra Cm To Discoms

HYDERABAD: The power distributing companies (Discoms) have been directed to ensure continuous seven hour power supply to the farmers in the state and also review the complaints in this regard, said Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Reddy asked the Discoms to ensure that the dedicated vehicles equipped with the global positioning system (GPS) needs to be utilised for replacement of malfunctioning distribution transformers.
GPS needs to ensure replacement of the failed transformer as soon as possible.
The Discoms have also been asked to send a monthly report on the replacement of non-working transformers. These GPS equipped vehicles needs to become functional throughout Andhra by September 1.
This meeting has witnessed the attendance of Chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, principal secretary (infrastructure & investments) Suthirtha Bhattacharya, APTransco CMD H Samariya, APGenco MD K Vijayanand, chief minister’s secretary KS Jawahar Reddy, CPDCL MD G Anantha Ramu, SPDCL MD Vidyasagar Reddy, NPDCL MD Narasimha Reddy, JMD Ranganatham and other officials attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the CM was given a clear picture about the current power supply situation. The sectors that have been exempted from the power cuts are Small-scale industries, spinning mills, rice mills, poultry, cold storage, government hospitals, drinking water, traction, seed processing and life- saving drugs.
