Hana as database or hana as BI system. former one, Currently only BW is supprted aka BW Powered by Hana, where hana is completely used as IMDB, and all you designing stuff will be carried in BW ( application layer), this way you will still enjoy the fruits of IM speed and also no extra work needed on side. However, for realtime you still need to depend on SLT or DS( near real), using SLT you cannot leverage the datasources from ERP.( as of now). This is the future of Hana, almost all the companies implementing hana are now on this track Later model, Hana studio will be used for designing BOBJ or any other reporting tools for end reports. Data from OLTP systems will be pushed into hans using SLT, BODS or DXC( sp05, using BW addon for ECC). Firms with no active netweaver BW can adopt this.
