I'm looking for 3d animation software programs without breaking the bank

i don't know abt 3dmagix kani, but maya is better dan 3d max, moreover epudu chaala kotha s\w's vachay, better consult an institution tat offers this courses

hello Jefrey! I am Sai, I did my Masters in Digital Animation in UK from Teesside University...

as far as my knowledge.. Maya is good.. but 3ds max will be more good..

so go for 3ds max...

and you got very good knowledge about animation.. why dont you try to learn the new software by Autodesk which is "MUDBOX" i mean Autodesk Mudbox software is so good now..
