you can do some sample projects. here..and others who are good in java can help them do

Basically projects require .. user . requirements... those who are freshers can use these projects in thier resume too
1) Very AFDB site we can do it Spring
2) EHR Application(Electronic Health Carre)
3) Educational Portal
4) Any financial project
5)Retail application

Choose one ..we will go a head and do it
