brahmacharya Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Day 6: Denali National Park/Healy Many recommended Denail is a must for the beautiful tundra views of Mountains & wildlife watching so this is our last stop....Accommodations just next to the park are lot more expensive during peak season (almost $300 ala vuntayi) so we choose to stay in a town of Healy (10-12 miles from park)......This part of Interior Alaska is very dry and dusty....Except for wild berries manushlu tinevi evi pandavu ikkada and it is true for almost all of Alaska except for Palmer & Wasilla regions where they grow some vegetation as most of the ground below is still frozen. So we drove to Healy....stayed in a cabin (built solely by owners)...Next day morning we booked the bus shuttle in to the park...you can drive in a car up to few miles inside but after that you can only walk/bike/take bus shuttle in to the park to watch wildlife or experience views... Its a 11 hour round trip ride (have to carry your own food n water) and they stop whenever you spot wildlife....we saw grizzly bears, fox, Caribou and some Dall sheep....very rare to spot wolves as they tend to come out mainly in winter to kill sick and easy to kill animals.... ila park views cover chesukoni back vachedappudiki it will take up the whole day....this is the end point of our trip...next day koncham souvenir shopping chesukoni we drove back to Anchorage (4 and half hours) to catch our return flight --------------------------------------------------------------------------END OF TRIP-------------------------------------------------------------------------
brahmacharya Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Seward lo kani Denali lo kani you can experience how they do Iditarod dog races in winter...this is an age old race covering 1000 miles from Seward - Nome via Denali area in winter....Sled dogs (Alaskan Huskies & other breeds) which are born to run in tough winter terrains are used to do this in temparatures ranging from -30 to -60 and the winner gets a trophy and cash prize http://iditarod.com/why-we-do-it-behind-the-iditarod/
brahmacharya Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 I do recommend doing this if you love dogs....they will show dogs which are used for the race, explain the race and take you on a brief 1 mile trail (matti road meda)...you can do snow rides in the mountain but they are very expensive ($450 per person) regular road di cheyyochu just to get a feel of how the dogs are...they are so excited and born to run....16 dogs tie chesi they took us out and the left out dogs just kept barking to take them along...anta excited they run on of the toughest terrains in winter carrying fuel, food for dogs n person running the race and some gear....every 100-200 miles ki checkpoints vuntayi to rest and eat anta....if they don't anchor the sled dogs parigettestayi appudu adiki punch padatadi anta so anchoring chesi they give sufficient rest to the dogs and heat up the snow using fuel.....ala they run 1000 miles along frozen rivers, up and down mountains and reach the end point
