ranjith23
bhaya since your opt ends on oct 15th. you can stay in US legally till dec 15th (bcoz of 60 days grace period). So by that time i think you will get ur h1b approved. I you are not confident that your h1b will get approved. apply for spring semister. which starts on jan 2014. keep your i20 ready in your hand and wait till dec 1st week. still if its pending or got denied, transfer to your new university on 1st week of dec. good thing is, the 60 day grace period is not only to leave country, its also eligible for transferring to other school. your new school will get your sevis transferred to their university , before 45-60 days of your semister start date and will maintain your sevis active till your school start date. so check the universities which can give you admission for spring semister and can transfer your sevis in 1st week of december. if you get your h1b approved, then there will be no problem at all

allari_naresh
You can apply for sevis transfer within the 60 day grace period. I know that for sure.
