Mild tensions in Hyderabad again. Curfew till this evening

Though in the early hours today Hyderabad was peaceful, some agitators belonging to a particular community came to the streets shouting slogans against the opposite community. However the police quickly took them into custody.

It is learnt that since past midnight some gossip mongers were sending SMSes fueling rumors about one particular community being targeted.

The Centre has rushed 1,800 paramilitary personnel to restore peace in the sensitive areas. The entire force has been put on alert to maintain law and order in view of Hanuman Jayanti celebrations today.

The curfew has been extended till 6 PM today. About 130 persons, suspected to be involved in the communal clashes, have been taken into custody so far, police commissioner AK Khan said.
