ARYA Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 bsolutely true...RIP AP A conspiracy against Visakhapatnam: forum Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu himself, Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana, along with capitalists and lobbyists have all conspired to deny Visakhapatnam being chosen as capital of the new State of Andhra Pradesh, alleged members of the Vizag Citizens Forum. “Various groups which have been working against interests of North Andhra in general and Visakhapatnam in particular have stepped up misinformation campaign against advantages of the city though the fact that Visakhapatnam emerged as top contender for capital in the recent survey initiated at national level”, the forum’s president S.S. Shiva Shankar, and convener of Prajaspandana and former IES officer C.S. Rao, Congress leader Bolisetty Satyanarayana, a former professor of Andhra University Surappadu, secretary of Uttarandhra Rakshana Vedika D.V.T. Ganesh, U. Chalapathi and others alleged at a press conference here on Tuesday. Mr. Naidu was trying to bring pressure on the Sivaramakrishnan committee to locate capital between Vijayawada and Guntur, by forming another committee at the State Government level with Mr. Narayana as its head. Apart from reiterating the many advantages Visakhapatnam was enjoying, like cosmopolitan culture; good road, rail, sea and air connectivity; pleasant climate, which all saw it witness a tremendous growth. The forum pointed out that it has large chunks of lands to be developed into the capital when the Sivaramakrishnan committee opined that land might be a problem at the State government’s preferred place between Vijayawada and Guntur. As many as18,000 acres of land in Anakapalli and Narsipatnam zone; around 5,000 acres of Wakf land, which is under unauthorised occupation and which could be resumed and the 10,000 acres of land which the APIIC acquired for major industries which however did not take off, could be used to build the capital. This apart huge tracks of lands is available towards Payakaraopeta and also towards Vizianagaram. They warned that if Visakhapatnam was not made capital, Andhra Pradesh would be lying at the bottom of all other States in the country. The forum added that capital at Visakhapatnam would reduce financial burden on government since infrastructure facilities were already existing. The capital would also spur the development in Uttarandhra, one of the most backward areas of the country.
