ARYA Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Aurobindo Pharma to expand Visakhapatnam APIs unit VISAKHAPATNAM: Hyderabad-based pharma major Aurobindo Pharma will be expanding the capacity of its active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) unit (unit-11) in Vizag this fiscal. However, the company did not specify the quantum of investments to be pumped into the expansion. "Almost around 1100 cubic metre capacity is getting commissioned from February 2015 at Unit-11 in Vizag," Aurobindo Pharma managing director N Govindarajan said during the first quarter earnings call, adding that the company has also started investing in fulfilling European requirements at its Vizag facility. "Apart from that we have also started investing in Naidupeta for our future requirement of US oral products," Govindarajan said. Aurobindo Pharma has doubled its capex plan for this fiscal by earmarking around Rs 600 crore . "The company's new capex, including maintenance, is expected to be in the range of Rs 600 crore for FY 2014-15, which will be evenly spread out over APIs and formulations facilities. The company's operations have resulted in substantial improvement to support capex through internal cash generation," Govindarajan said.

Such plants have been implemented in the middle east but lot of different opinions with regard to the quality of the end product.

Seems Nakkapalli(towards Ankapalli if i am not wrong) is not feasible because of some technical restrictions. Navy is saying no to Atchutapuram. One way this is good because both areas are far from vizag. Alternate location proposed is Bhogapuram which is towards vizianagram. Problem with this being, in this way airport will be restricted to uttarandhra, so might not get a lot of flights. I may be wrong, just guessing.
