One of the resposes:

Dear TOI,

Thanks for providing us this opportunity to express our opinion regarding the injustice being meted to Andhras biggest city. Vizagites with their peace loving nature and tolerance have set an example for citizens of other cities to emulate. While Vizag has sacrificed the much deserved capital tag for Vijayawada, people of VIjayawada with their strong links to Telugu Desam Party(TDP) have exploited the situation in their favor. Ever since TDP has arrived at the helm of affairs in Andhra the situation has started heading towards the worse. Vizag is being denied its due in order to portray smaller places like Vijayawada and Guntur as the right choice. This clearly looks like a deliberate attempt to malign Vizags reputation by vested interests being backed by TDP in power. While Vizagites are not againstdevelopment of all the regions of the state, they are certainly concerned about the growing injustice. Below are a few examples of that in the past 3 months with Mr. Naidu as the CM of Andhra.

1) Unilateral decision of TDP on the capital issue. Even till today the Sivaramakrishnan committees report has not been made public. Attached in a picture below is an RTI filed online to acquire the report. It clearly states that the report is not available? Where is the need for such a hasty decision on the capital issue? Is geography the most important factor in deciding the capital? Why is money being spent on land acquisition for capital when the much awaited loan waiver for farmers is being delayed? Where is the need to spend so much money on capital construction when Andhras exchequer is running on deficit? Mr Naidu who was talking about democratic process during APs bifurcation, why does he not follow the same in deciding the capital of the state?

2)Vested media news filled with Vijayawada stuff. Few media houses owned by people hailing from Vijayawada/Guntur region have always been highlighting that region at the expense of the other regions of the state. This is clearly paid news and definitely politically motivated. It can be easily perceived even by kids!

3)Metro rail to Vijayawada as the top priority is another issue. A city with million plus population with no industry etc. gets high priority just because it is capital, leaving out all the pollution due to inustries, congestion and growing needs of a 2 million plus port city! The GDP contributions of Vijayawada and Vizag according to report by McKinsey places them at $3bn and $26bn respectively. Vizags contribution to national GDP is enormous and the city stands in the top 10 in India. Why is such a city with such skilled man power, resources etc being left out for a city that does not even have a proper underground drainage system? Why is Vizag not being given the top priority in AP? The DPR has already been finalized under UPA all that is required is execution!!

4)Uninterrupted power supply to Vijayawada and Tirupathi but not Vizag. While uninterrupted power supply to these cities is most welcome, why is Vizag being neglected then? Vizag being a very heavily industrialized city with several public sector units including 2 different ports and booming IT and Pharma industries deserves 24X7 power supply more than anyother place in Andhra. Mr. Naidu has plans of setting an IT hub and ITIR in Vizag but does not want to supply 24X7 power. Strange indeed are the ways of the govt.!!

5)Apathy of the local politicians towards Vizag. Not a single MP or MLA or a minister represented from this region speaks out in favor of Vizag in TDP discussions. No wonder we are lagging behind. The 3 most important departments of the city viz. VUDA,GVMC and the Police department are functioning without their bosses!! This is an example of the apathy of the state govt. towards Vizag. The CM of AP Mr. Naidu was quick enough immediately after taking oath to upgrade the level of Vijayawada Police commissionarate to that of an IG! What about Vizag? There is no police commissioner!

6) Tourism, with enchanting natural beauty of the sea and the hills Vizag by now should have been like Goa on the east coast. But alas it is sad that we are no where even close to that. While our CM has grand plans of transforming Bhavani island into a tourist spot the same interest is missing in Vizags case where up gradation of existing facilities is enough

7)Railways: Mr. Naidu if he can apply pressure on the railways just like his Odisha counterpart AP would get a separate Railway zone very soon. In 22003 when he was the CM, the railways formed the ECoR. But Mr. Naidu never spoke a word against that.

8) Portraying Vizag as an investment destination and boosting Brand Vizag is of utmost imporance to the state. With already existing basic infrastructure Vizag can become the anchor city and investment hub of AP just like Hyderabad is for Telangana. Development is something that happens and not something that is done or performed. It has to happen naturally. Hope our CM understands this and hastens the process of Vizags development.

9)IIT has been dream for Vizagites and that dream came to an end recently with the state govts. decision to establish IIT at Tirupathi. With another IIT just 2 hours away its a ridiculous idea to have an IIT in Tirupathi. High time IIT is moved to Vizag

It is rather unfortunate that our CM has not set his eye on these issues related to Vizag. Ever since he has become the CM his concentration has been on the capital just the way it used to be about Hyderabad in the past. Added to that his henchmen are creating all sorts of trouble by lobbying for everything in Vijayawada that Vizag or other places of AP. The above are just a few examples of APATHY towards Vizag. Looks like East Coast Railway and TDP gov. are competing with each other in displaying daylight bias against Vizag. Only Vizagites can set these things right. Moves like these inevitably result in creating regional imbalances and eventually separate statehood demands. Its already something that is being perceived as an alternative to end the injustice. If things go on this way it wont be long before Uttarandhra comprising Srikakulam,Vizianagarama and Vizag districts and Rayalaseema separate state demands come out. This will be detrimental to the progress of AP as it has already lost 2 mega cities of Chennai and Hyderabad in past 60 years. High time these things are addressed and the govt. acts in a more sensible and cogent manner. So far Mr. Naidus promises and plans of developing new Andhra are high on rhetoric and low in substance.

Hoping for the best!
Thank you again
Best Regards
