Feel sad for this disastrous move in Ignoring the largest and the city which has the highest potential to develop in AP by the Govts...RIP Vizag! :(

chandra916 Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 ee naven atnaik gaadi lobbying entra baabu...... ECoR may lose Waltair to new rly zone in Andhra Sandeep Mishra, TNN | Jul 7, 2014, 02.06PM IST BHUBANESWAR: The Centre's move to carve out a new railway zone headquartered at Visakhapatnam by withdrawing Waltair division from the East Coast Railway (ECoR) jurisdiction has raised hackles in the Odisha government. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik, in a recent letter to railway minister Sadananda Gowda, has objected to the Union government's proposal to take away Waltair division from ECoR and sought setting up of three new divisions in the state. "Since efforts are on to withdraw the Waltair (Visakhapatnam) division from ECoR jurisdiction as part of the restructuring of a new sub-central (Visakhapatnam) zone under Telengana, I demand creation of three new railway divisions in my state under ECoR. The three new divisions should be set up at Jajpur-Keonjhar, Rayagada and Rourkela or Jharsuguda," Naveen reportedly said in his letter. Naveen's missive to Gowda came in the wake of the Centre constituting a committee of officers from Railway Board and South Central Railway to into "establishment of a new zone in the residual state of Andhra Pradesh; establishment of a rail coach factory in Telengana and rapid rail and road connectivity between Hyderabad and the new capital of residual state of AP" in tune with the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
zzeb Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 NO wonder our state govt is more penchant towards caste driven real estate development...this will ruin the state big time! Feel sad for this disastrous move in Ignoring the largest and the city which has the highest potential to develop in AP by the Govts...RIP Vizag! :( It's sad indeed. It is really puzzling that on one hand the state govt says money is an issue, and at the same time they don't want to use the existing infrastructure in Vizag, and make it a capital. Instead they are coming up with ludicrous ideas like building a capital city from scratch. That too destroying hundreds of acres of farmland in the process. The only good thing out of all this is hopefully whatever natural beauty of the city is left, it might be retained. Port connectivity, international airport permit(yes a new one has to be built coz of the considerations of the Navy), cosmopolitan culture. That city has quite a few things going for it. Coming back to the railway zone, it's been a long cherished dream of the people of Vizag to have the headquarters in the city. Seems the BJP wants it that way, but the TDP wants it to be in Vijayawada- Guntur region. Hence the delay.
