seelavathiaunty Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 Dear Friends, This email is to bring to the notice about a very tragic incident and request all your support to help a young man obtain the needed medical and rehabilitation help. Mr. VENKATA ANWESH DATLA (Anwesh) currently lives in Detroit, MI. He is 27 year old and has completed his Bachelor’s from SRKR Engineering College Bhimavaram & Masters from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. He is currently working in IT at Covisint (aka Compuware) since December 2012. On April 13th of this year, Anwesh met with a very unfortunate accident, which had left him paraplegic, paralyzed from waist down. He accidently fell from the balcony of his second floor apartment, nine feet to the ground. He was immediately rushed to Botsford hospital in Farmington MI, and was diagnosed with multiple shoulder, rib and spinal fractures. He was admitted into critical care and had to undergo a six-hour spinal cord (T11/T12 compression) surgery. The post-operative prognosis is not very promising; doctors do not hold hope that he will gain all, or even partial, control of his lower body sensory functions. On April 22nd, Anwesh was discharged from Botsford and was transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan in downtown Detroit. All community members in Detroit and elsewhere in US have provided and continue to provide immense & invaluable support and service during this crucial period. Given the severity of situation it is very encouraging & heartening to see Anwesh’s resolve and determination to get back to life. He is amazingly strong and determined to accept the facts and face them. He realizes the uphill task in front of him and is resolved to complete his rehab and to pursue his career and get back on his feet. All this is possible because of the good Samaritans’ help at every step during this crucial period. Anwesh is the son of late Sri. Datla Siva Rama Raju Garu (Retired from state warehouse corporation), a native of Chikkala in W.G Dist and settled in Kakinada. He is survived by a mother and a sister who lives in India. His mother has come here last week to help him. Few community members who are experts in healthcare and are over seeing his needs estimate his out of pocket expenses to be around $75K. Anwesh has just began his career and his current financial resources fall way short of his needs. This is a challenge and opportunity for all of us to help Anwesh in whatever way possible. We request your generous contributions to help Anwesh survive this severe setback and to help him succeed and shine in life again. Anwesh expresses his sincere gratitude for all the kindness and support that the community has already offered to him and hopes one day he can return the goodwill. Please use any of the following to support Anwesh and do remember that all donations are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Please use the below email address to reach for the Tax Exempt Certificate and we will be happy to provide one.
