People

• I find Hyd folks really nice even if I compare them with people back home.
• Many of the people in Chennai are also friendly but many are also reserved; personally,culturally and racially.
• Personally, I felt the environment of Hyderabad a lot more welcoming.

Weather:

• The weather of Chennai is unbearable, most of the year. It is very hot and it is very humid.
• Even Hyderabad is not as good as Bangalore or Pune in that respect but it is lot better than Chennai.
• In Hyderabad, the evenings are a lot cooler and the monsoon is beautiful.

Food:

• Hyderabad boasts of one of the best non-veg cuisines in India, the Nizami cuisine. The Hyderabadi biryani is more than a treat in itself.
• The South Indian vegetarian food is better in Chennai, if you like it. You can find better and cheaper North Indian and other types of food in Hyderabad.

Language:

• What I have observed, especially with a lot of auto-wallahs, is that even if you, by mistake, speak a couple of words in Hindi, they react like you are from the ISI, gone there to bomb the city.
• The first time I went to Hyderabad and tried to convey myself in English, the auto-wallah replied in his broken Hindi,with a smile on his face, "Humko Hindi aata, bhaiya".
• I know that the main language in Hyderabad is Hindi as well as Telugu and I don't want Chennai to copy that but there are better and subtler ways to deal with things.
• To wrap it all, you'll be more comfortable in Hyderabad whatever language you speak.

Software parks and other opportunities:

• The software park in Hyderabad is a lot better and bigger than Chennai and includes more companies. There are a lot more opportunities for youngsters and professionals.
• The government has done a good job in investing and managing the IT sector and it has given rise to a cosmopolitan and inclusive culture in the city, which is on the rise.
• Added to that, there are a lot of Central institutions in the city for people of other fields including DRDO, forensics, arts etc.

Better governance:

• The government of Andhra Pradesh is one of the better governments in the country for quite some time.
• It is not conservative and allow new ideas and lifestyles.

Night-life:

• The night-life of Chennai is non-existent. On the other hand, Hyderabad is a city growing day by day and you see lots of places to chill and have fun.
• Even in the day time, Hyderabad has lot of places to go and spend some time.
• Chennai scores on the beach, though. It also has a lot of temples for your grandmother to visit.

Safety:
Both cities are generally safer than cities in North India. Chennai fares better than Hyderabad, actually.


Liberalism:

• Chennai is a conservative city. You'l see a lot of signs of religious conservatism.
• It has a beach, on which you should be fully clothed. Hilarious !
• Even in Hyderabad, you see a lot of burqas, a lot more then what you see in the north and a lot more than my liking, though one reason for that is a lot of middle - eastern influence here.

for me, Hyd is a lot better city to live than Chennai.
