tokkale Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 kurzweilsucks So If I understand you correctly, the present system should be continued as it is - reservations based on social background rather than economic status until such a time that all the castes have equal access to wealth and other basic necessities. And don't even try to correct the grossly misused and mismanaged system - which it is currently. What is the problem with the state treating an individual as the unit for any such reforms rather than a group (caste). And just because majority of the upper class people are blessed with everything (according to you) they need to lead a decent life, others in that group should be left to fend for themselves however miserable their condition is. And finally wasn't that the whole point and intention of the founding fathers when they included reservations in the constitution ( that there should be a level playing field for all the classes in the society and until such time reservations should stay). So there is something wrong either in the concept or the implementation of this whole scheme. Should'nt it be redesigned based on today's social structure and while doing so accommodate people from all sections who are actually in need of state sponsorship. I am asking all this just to understand exactly what you are suggesting.
