Late YS Rajasekhar Reddy was in the Chief Minister race even during that time. However, he was reportedly not poised over Congress Party winning the polls and preferred Lok Sabha to State Assembly. It was due to which Janaradhana Reddy was elected as the Chief Minister then.

From the other end, the measures undertaken by the PV’s government in the Centre started showing their result. The employment got generated for the youth in the state then and the same got ripened up during Naidu’s regime. It was how Naidu got a chance to boast of himself as the employment generator in the state.
