lazybugger Posted August 13, 2015 Author Report Posted August 13, 2015 I dont understand what kind of discrimination you are talking about? I would be lying if tell there is no discrimination at all but what all i am trying to say is that it is not as widespread as it used to be 2-3 decades ago esp in villages becuase of their improved socio economic factors. Many understood the value of good education and getting better by day and hence the caste lines getting diluted. Personally i haven't denied friendship in school or college on the basis of a caste and infact one of my best buddy is a SC and I dont even know the castes of few friends . I'm not talking about discrimination itself. But the existence of caste differences in TG, and the reluctance of people here to talk about it. Or I can frame my question in another way. Why isn't a respected scholar like Kancha Illiah not a big Telangana Icon? It may be because TG is fresh out of major agitation, and passions are running high on TG identity. So I ask, when do you think caste lines will start to matter in TG's popular discourse? when the SCs and STs are influential enough to take on the velamas and Reddys?
