Not like how they write in greatandhra and idlebrain, like they are in a hurry to get to giving the movie some rating. They may not have upper class urban themes, thats all. Hindi movies do well there. malayalam is boring. emotional crap. tamil movies are more raw.

Surya did. The tamil Surya. He's still in that mode ever since he made that movie with Maniratnam.

There are others who can and do explore human condition (not maniratnam). There's nothing pretentious about it. It's the way people are.
