telugu movies connect well to lower class audience than tamil
Movies...

no wonder Bahubali has caught the pulse of whole India when no Mani ratnam Balachander could do that in their lifetime.... ask any working class northie in India he would say I saw many good telugu dubbed hindi movies..than guru yuva etc

I don't know why you are so keen on getting offtrack.

simple point is acting in maniratnam films is better than other south indian director's films. not counting some obscure malayalam/kannada film.

charan will benefit from the experience.

if you disagree, its okay. But pointless to talk about the reach of telugu films.

that's why I said, ram charan is better off acting in maniratnam films, because even his worst films have decent performances from the leads.

ramcharan may find a new angle to his acting.

Surya did. The tamil Surya. He's still in that mode ever since he made that movie with Maniratnam.

Mani Ratnam movies are truly pretentious... except for some world class technixal values, the emotiona he conveys in his movies don't reach the audience as they should. One of his best movies is Raavanan because of Vikram's role but neverthless audience couldn't understand what he is going through. You have to pass through that phase of life to understand what he is saying, now that's not what the audience want

Shankar is better than Mani Ratnam when it comes to commercial movies. Even better than any other director in India because he perfectly converts a unrealistic topic with cheap and unreal storyline into a perfect emotional adventure.. He is the director who perfectly streamlined cinema business, that's a clear winner for me.

maniratnam has a better aesthetic visual sense than Shankar or any other indian director of his time. He's had it since he started making movies. Some Hindi makers may have stepped up and outclassed mani, but he's still among the best.

his movies may be boring, unimaginative, characters uninteresting, but even compared to this unremarkable director (maniratnam), the rest are crap. I meant,  among the ones that make 'unpretentious' movies. @3$%

I said I like Maniratnam, because he introduced me to cinema. The bond is just emtional. I've outgrown his kind of movies a decade ago.

I think in an earlier reply to you, I specifically said that I like him, but he's not even closest to best in Tamil. Is that how one talks of someone who he praises?

I started this thread just to say that charan's wooden acting might benefit from mani's touch. But since you and other fellow are sentimental about telugu movies, you dragged me into a pointless discussion on the business of movies. Why should I care about how much business a movie does?

show me one critic who said satyaraj did well in Baahubali.

that critic should be an english writer (because I can't understand complicated telugu), and write about a movie in a way that brings out the artistic sense of the movie. Not like how they write in greatandhra and idlebrain, like they are in a hurry to get to giving the movie some rating.

Inka telugu movie criticism edagaledhu bhayya. lite teesko.

anduke chettha cinemaalu antha sooper sooper ani thiruguthunnaru.

I second that narsi thatha..

I agree with what you say though. Mani films cater to a very few section of people, upper class, and aspiring middle class. Tamil films have moved away from these groups long ago, and are now better than when they were during Mani's times.

I may be acting like a hypocrite by hanging on to Mani. But I no longer consider him as a good director.
