They exist for the sole purpose of helping their kid achieve his dreams. Beyond that they have no purpose (to the kid). Some people can live through self loathing, Some people cannot live through it. Simple. Why are you so worked up about someone's reasons for taking their life?

Some people value their life that much, and find that it's impossible to live up to the standards they set themselves. Not everyone kills themselves because politicians provoke them to. People are more intelligent than that.
