Desi Students who will enter OPT and apply for h1b in 2016 around 78,000 students. next year the candidates who will apply will jump to 1,43,000 according to estimates. (since 98% of the Indian students apply). These statistics donot include 23,000 students who apply for h1b from Nepal, Bhutan and pakistan from indian sub continent. Around 18,000 vietnamese students are also in contest along with 3,400 Malaysian students.
