The pitch has been uncovered as well. The stumps are being put in. I expect we'll have an inspection soon, and a toss not too far away.

Moloy: "My residence is 5-6 km away from the stadium & was a lot of wind and rain. But, out of nothing there is stars on the sky now. Believe me, stars!!! Hoping for almost a 20 overs game." Unlikely to get a full game, but we'll get most of the overs in.

Hitesh: "Dont Miss Rabada's catch guys...Seeing some good thirlling cricket AUS vs SA....." Stunning catch, similar to Vettori's against West Indies in the 2015 World Cup.

The pitch is said to be "bone dry," according to Russell Arnold on Star Sports. The umpires are saying the square is in good condition but there are some damp areas near the boundary, which are a concern. The umpires will inspect the conditions at 8.45 pm. Overs will start getting reduced at 8.40 pm.

he covers are steadily being taken off the ground. Only the hessian on top of the pitches remains. Some of the Indian players are out and about, playing around with a football. We should not lose too many overs.

You'll have more details as soon as I do.

"The square and the bowlers' run-ups look quite good considering the damage they took for so long," says Alagappan Muthu from the ground. "The Bangladesh players are taking a few ginger steps where the covers are still on - cow corner with a right-hand batsman facing from the press box end. If that part of the ground doesn't offer too much bother, we might actually get pretty close to a full game. One of the umpires is also making his way around the ground, checking how it feels underfoot."

Sharada: "Have to give it to BCB. They really have created a top notch stadium. With so much crowd support, this is how a board should work."

Ethan: "The Cricket stadium in Kolkata has a lot to learn from this Shere Bangla Stadium!"

"Umpires are back out. Inspection time," says Alagappan Muthu from the Shere Bangla. "They are stamping around at mid-on, talking animatedly with the curator. Rohit, meanwhile, trotted over and checked out the pitch."

Aditya: "Why reduce overs at all? In other sports e.g. tennis if there is a rain delay, they still play 5 sets not just reduce it to 3!!"

India in their team huddle, addressed by Shastri. Dhoni walks up to the umpire now for a little word and off they go to warm up."
