Final Review Of Stem Opt Rule Sent To Omb

Hooray!! After reviewing 70,000+ comments, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has given a green signal to STEM OPT rule and it is sent to OMB for final review and publication. The STEM OPT extension program gives the facility to the students studying engineering, science, technology and mathematics to spend extra 17 months for working in the US. This extension program was set to expire on February 12th due to court case.

On February 5, 2016, the final rule is sent to be reviewed and it is the last review by OMB before the STEM OPT rule gets published in the Federal Register. Previously, DHS announced a goal to have an effective date 60 days after the publication date of Federal Register. Now, according to the new update, the final rule would be endorsed by March 10, 2016. It is because this date will accommodate the May 10, 2016 legal proceeding date of current rule.

Unfortunately, the rule was hoped to get approved before 12th of February but no worries. It is rightly said that”Late is better than never”.

So as you can see writing comments works. For I 140 EAD however there are less than 20,000 comments and no one seems to bother.
