WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A Virginia man was arrested after Metro transit police say he exposed himself and masturbated while sitting next to a female passenger on a Green Line train.

Sricharan Peddu of Fairfax, Va. was charged with one count of indecent exposure after officers were able to identify him following an anonymous tip.

Peddu was allegedly riding a Green Line train during the early morning hours of January 16 when he exposed himself and masturbated while sitting next to the female passenger.  The woman, who police say was not physically hurt, exited the train and reported the incident to a station manager at the Prince George's Plaza Station.

Police were able to identify a suspect using surveillance video and released a photo of him to the public.

On January 19, officers received an anonymous tip that a man who resembles the one in the photo released by police was seen at the Navy Yard Station. Officers checked the station and nearby area and found Peddu at a nearby convenience store.

Peddu is scheduled to appear in Prince George's County District Court on March 14.
