tennisluvr Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 MS from any thopu, or mid or PP university choosing consulting labor jobs are hahahaha ....no big diff As if FT jobs on H1B aren't labor jobs. As someone that did a FT job as a laborer for a Fortune 100 firm nonetheless I know how your managers treat you when you are an FT on H1B waiting on his mercy to get your GC vs being a contractor that doesn't have to work an hour extra without getting overtime pay. I would take the latter.

Its not the case all the time in FT compared to benefits provided by the company and stability at a place with a package you negotiate. its all fun in contracting when you are not married but once married your life changes and travel can get as sh1ttier as it can.

It's different when you are married, I would agree with you on that. Right now being single and not married I like being a consultant. If I get married in the future, I would perhaps opt for a FT myself. That however doesn't mean the justification you gave earlier is right, where you said MS from an average to above average university and consulting = lol.

Plus quite a few FT people when they got laid off came running with their pants down asking for a consultancy to transfer their visa. This happened with people I know who are from reputed universities and working as FTs in reputed firms with 130k+ pay packages. So don't think any job is ever safe, esp. if you are on a H1B visa.

Tell me the real advantage when you work as a consulting contractor how does your thopu uni certificates help in earning a contract?

Atleast through MAVNI you will earn it, unlike the majority of people here who are begging EADs with USCIS.

tennisluvr Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Tell me the real advantage when you work as a consulting contractor how does your thopu uni certificates help in earning a contract? I know people in FT jobs from "thupel" universities that are working for 130+ pay packets. So their below average university didn't affect their job prospects. Your university helps only so much in helping you get a job, if anything it's just a foot in the door. Beyond that it's your ability, talent, PR skills etc
