Popular brands aithe Dikin,Mitsubishi,o general...ivi expensive and if you add inverter feature then easily they will cost 45000+ inr ...if you are using ac for ore than 3 -5 hrs daily go for inverter otherwise waste of spending that much money .,,,inverter means 7 star rating...otherwise go for 5 star rating lg voltas Samsung etc

Based on personal experience from these brands - Daikin, O General, Blue Star , Voltas.

First Choice - Reliability and Absolute Silence, works at even temperatures above 45C-
Daikin. O General is equally comparable. Both Premium Brands. I heard even Mitsubishi is in same class, but never used it.

Daikin - Japanese Company - about 5yrs ago imported from Thailand. Now manufacturing in India.
O General - Also Japanese Company (I guess. Not sure). But one of the Best selling A/Cs in Middle East - Dubai. Best Known for working under high temperatures. Solid built.

From my experience all remaining brands are more are less the same
Voltas - Indian Brand - Under Rated. But best in cost per value.
Blue Star - Nothing special

Regarding Inverter vs 5 Star(less power consumption. <5 star - more power consumption)

- if you only use it in Summer go for 5 Star.
- if you use it daily - go for inverter- it's energy efficient only if you use it for long hours on a daily basis like banks/ shops

Difference between inverter and 5 Star is -inverter a/c can run at lower power to maintain temperature. Where as 5 star a/c runs at full power and once the target temperature is reached it shuts down completely.

Finally service is important - most of them just need regular filter cleaning. Rarely heard having repairs for compressors.

already have onida, LG and daikin in our home man..need something cheap and reliable for rental home..power consumption doesnt matter
