Certainly there's partisan attack on the BJP on the handling of dalit issue, but the truth is far more complex than such simplistic understanding.

Even if the BJP wants to do fair by the dalits, its votebank (the middle class pot bellied Hindu) won't let it. So the issue is not why the media is raising this issue when BJP is in power. The media bias against BJP is obvious for a while now.

The better question is, why are the Hindus reacting to dalit assertion with such venom? If BJP's votebank reacted to the issue with some indifference and sanity, the issue would have been solved by now.

Instead we see attempt to divert the issue by bringing in kanhaiyya kumar, and then, NITSrinagar, and on and on, to keep the Hindu thirst for nationalistic outrage alive and well. 

The more they focus on the Rohit suicide case, the more these Hindus will spoil any chances of BJP winning any big state in the future, and in 2019.

BJP's attempt to satisfy the votebank is taking India closer and closer to a Hindu version of Pakistan. Except the Indian version has a bigger NRI crowd ready to spout hate on anybody in the name of patriotism towards a country they are no longer a part of.
