Hi, 

I am planning to come to India this December  and my current H1b expires on Jan 07 2017. My employer has already filed for H1b extension and we are awaiting for approval. My question is can i book visa slot based on my old I797 receipt number(and not submit the DS160). Once i get the new receipt number can i update with new receipt number information or should i only book the visa slot after the approval and with new receipt number. 

Please advice.
