anyway that means ur friend had infection in the past. Hsv 1 causes oral lesions usually. Once symptoms gone it vl go in dormant in nerve cells. When u have stress it vl come back. Transmitted by kissing. 

 

Some people its just oral ulcers comes and goes. Not life threatening. 

 

You can not cure it.but if symptoms are severe you need to take tablets. 

 

Neverthless you should discuss with your partner. Its very common. Most of indians will have it. But no body knows that they have.

We dont have good epidemiological data for india. But based on other countries that match indian conditions its estimated about 80% hsv1.
