221g case status pending for 4 plus months

Hi,

 I have attended for H1B visa stamping in Nov 2016 at US consulate in Chennai and was issued 221g . I have been following up with them for the past two months with the same templated 
 answer of under processing and will be contacted if they need anything from my end. They have neither contacted me nor my employer for any documents or additional questions. 
 I am very worried about this whole scenario. I kept following up with them and am being told that it's purely discretionary of embassy and it could take as long as it takes. 
 Can some one please advise me on this case (like any further steps to take to expedite my case, how long it might take etc.,)?

When i had 221G and mine was to get security clearance and it took me 2 and half months ... So have to wait ... that is all you can do ..

sometimes it will take time, try calling chennai consulate number , they can provide you with detailed update .
