Nearly $29 billion in market cap wiped from Amazon's new rivals in grocery space

Amazon's AMZN, +2.92% dramatic push into the grocery space with its planned acquisition of Whole Foods WFM, +27.15% has wiped nearly $29 billion from the aggregate market cap of rivals in the grocery category. Wal-Mart Stores WMT, -4.87% lost over $14 billion in market value, Costco's COST, -5.79% market cap fell by more than $5 billion, and Target TGT, -7.72% and Kroger KR, -12.42% each saw a reduction of more than $3 billion. U.S.-listed shares of Ahold Delhaize ADRNY, -9.15% which owns U.S. chains including Giant and Food Lion, saw its value drop by nearly $2 billion. Smaller rivals including Supervalu SVU, -13.03% Sprouts SFM, -6.11% and Weis Markets WMK, -5.16% also nursed heavy losses.

Amazon is planning to implement Amazon GO .. once it clicks people will start moving towards that smart supermarket system... migita companies doesn't have enough technical ability to compete, same thing happened with e-business, they couldn't match with Amazon
