Heavy forests in US, so there was an abundance of raw materials.
Ease of use. Wooden houses are relatively easy to build and timber relatively easy to create.

Wood performs much better in a dynamic environment, like high winds or earthquakes. It can flex and snap back, unlike masonry, which cracks and crumbles. It's possible to build a masonry wall that will perform well under these conditions, but--especially in the case of earthquakes--it's very expensive to do so.

Wood also has the advantages of being light, easy to change later, and hollow (good for running pipes, wires, and for filling with insulation).

wood is very common for residential single family construction in the US. It is easily available and cheap, and doesn't require any specialized trades since carpentry/wood framing is considered a very fundamental residential building activity.

kattachu but, it's cheaper to build with wood, and better for insulating as well. it would be cheaper to replace in case of hurricanes as well.

inko advantage entante, wood frames valla it will be easier to run electric wires, plumbing etc
