Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, daughter of senior Tamil hero Sarathkumar, has announced her debut film in Tollywood. Said to be a multilingual female-centric project, the film is titled "Shakthi" in Telugu. Rana Daggubati unveiled the first look poster of the film's Telugu version. The first look suggests that the actress has undergone a complete makeover for the film.

The tagline - 'Some fear fire..Some simply become it' - suggests that the film will be an intense drama pegged to address contemporary issues faced by women. Shakthi will go on floors in this second half of this month and will reportedly have a simultaneous release in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam in the first half of 2018.

Varalaxmi has thus far acted in 10-odd Tamil films but Shakthi is going to be her debut in Telugu film industry. The 32-year-old actress wishes to make her mark in Tollywood with this film, whose title is same as NTR Jr's massive disaster, 'Shakthi'.
