Amber Alert for missing Texas toddler discontinued

RICHARDSON, Texas (KWTX) An Amber Alert for a Richardson toddler who disappeared after her father made her stand outside in the middle of the night as punishment was discontinued Monday afternoon.

The girl has not been found, police said.

The alert was discontinued because authorities have neither a suspect nor vehicle description.

No further details were immediately available.

The Richardson Police Department, which issued the alert Saturday, believed Sherin Mathews, 3, was abducted.

According to an arrest affidavit, her father, Wesley Matthews, 37, forced the girl to stand outside next to a tree at around 3 a.m. Saturday.

When he went outside about 15 minutes later, the girl was gone, the affidavit said.

He waited about five hours before he reported the toddler missing, authorities say.

He was charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

He posted bond and was released from jail on Sunday.

The girl is Asian or Pacific with black hair and brown eyes.

She is 3-feet tall and weighs 22 pounds.

She was last seen wearing a pink top and black pajama bottoms.

"She suffers from developmental issues and has limited verbal communication skills," police said in a Facebook post.

No other information was provided.

Texas Child Protective Services removed the missing girl's 4-year-old sister from the Mathews home on Monday. A CPS spokesperson told NBC News that the agency has had "contact" with the family before but "details are confidential."

The Mathews family adopted Sherin from an orphanage in India nearly two years ago, a neighbor told CBS News.

The couple also has a biological daughter who is one year older than the missing girl.

Officers and volunteers have been going door-to-door and canvassing the neighborhood and surrounding areas since Saturday afternoon, but have not had any leads on the missing girl's location.

Sherin, who is described by police as having developmental issues and "limited verbal communication skills," was last seen wearing a pink top, black pajama bottoms, and pink flip flops.

The Mathewses reportedly adopted the girl two years ago from an orphanage in India. She was malnourished and physically underdeveloped and does not have the same language skills a typical 3 year old would in the U.S., Perlich said.

Looks like they adopted when kid is few months baby. They might not know she has development issues.

Also like like they didn't take care of kid... As she is suffering from malnutrition

Yeah saw that. Biological daughter anta. Child negligence kinda vesi dobbutharu ikkada. Basically unfit to not take care of the other child also.
