Any project which solves a particular problem through block chain technology and has utility in the market and which dont have big competitors to deal with are good projects in my opinion ( sometimes a real good idea need not think about competitors ) 

Other things to look.

1. Total Supply - The less the better

2. Team Composition with relevant exp in both block chain and associated markets  ( Research their linked in , google profiles )

3. If they have already working product then its less risky

4. A great white paper

5. Bitcoin thread - read whats going on

6. Check their twitter and Facebook and other media and check how many people are active and talking about the new tech

7. Ask your self is really block chain technology needed for this?

8. If you are a programmer check quality of code on git hub

9. Check if they have realistic road map and see did they accomplish them on time 

10. Check how many big exchanges it listed on

11. Faster transaction speeds and Less trans fee

12. Coins not premined

There are many other stuff like analyzing their past volume / price graphs to see if they are having study growth or sudden pumps and dumps.

May be you know many of the above stated things...Accorinding to my research below are the projects i find have potential for future in no particular order

3. Ethos

4. Lisk

5. Quantstamp

6. Electroneum ( Signed agreements with global mobile networks )

7. Power Ledger 

8. Request Network 

9. Vertcoin

10. Utrust - paypal for crypto

11. Bitclave - Competing with Google Search but it really have high potential

12. LUXCoin 

13. Nebulas 

14. Deep brain Chain

15. Factom and Substratum

16. Walton 

I see Kucoin shares and binance coins will also have good future

There is big hype around wan chain , medical chain and zillica , ARK block- But not sure

Even though privacy coins like Piv X and Monero , Dash etc are great projects...privacy coins may face some risks in future

In the top 10 apart from BTC and ETH - i see huge growth for NEO ( You get free Gas ) , Litecoin and EOS

Raiblocks - many people see price manipulations pump and dump done for this coin..

Deep chain - working product is ready and have clients like microsoft , samsung , siemens

I disagree. Pump and dump coin can never get a billion dollar market in such a short span of time. It has come to solve the issues that BTC has been struggling with. It's one of the few coins that has gained popularity in the recent times. It has got the high throughput and doesn't charge any transaction fees and I believe this DAG coin is going to be huge in 2018.
