Instead of  focusing on "Where She is", focus on "What She is"

try to meet her personally or have 3-4 skype calls , you need to do a psychological profiling to asses her personality

list out most important aspects that you need from partner, ask her those questions hidden in between conversation and see hows her response

once you do such profiling, you will have enough to judge if she is the right choice for you or not

be open to all alliances that come your way, be it US Masters or Indian, because you dont know where the  "good one" is going to come from

you are not doing anything wrong, you are doing good to yourselves by not leaving the choice to parents, 

we are not trained in emotional intelligence, if we learn this concept, it become very easy to identify lies, ignorance etc of the other party
