Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana on Saturday said construction of the capital city at Amaravati would be completed by 2018. Plots to the farmers who gave their land for pooling would be given away on lottery basis in October and November.

Speaking at a workshop on ‘Mana Amaravati ‘here, he said Rs. 5 lakh crore was required to build a world-class capital city.

“A capital city will not be just an administrative city with buildings for offices and departments. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wants the city, which can provide economic stability, viability, and opportunities to people. The capital city should be a vibrant one with activities round the clock and provide avenues to improve the standard of living of the people. Several fields like education, health, hospitality, commerce, sports, and finance should flourish in tandem.”
